Here
in Hawai'i, we work
and play in what we
refer to as "Hawaiian
Time", meaning
we may be a little
late getting there,
but we will get there.
When viewing theses
estimated travel times,
please allow yourself
at least a 15-30 minute
earlier leave time
to make any reservation
time, to allow for
a little sight seeing
on the way for yourself
and the other drivers
ahead of you. "ROAD
RAGE" is not
allowed in Hawai'i
!
You can average about
10 miles in 15 minutes.
The distances below
are base on the Dept.
of Transportation
figures. Actual times
WILL vary.
From the Kahului Airport
To Lahaina - 27 miles
(45 min)
To Kapalua - 36 miles
(1 hr)
To Kihei - 15 miles
(25 min)
To Wailea - 19 miles
(35 min)
To Haleakala - 22
miles (1 1/2hrs)
To Hana - 56 miles
( 2 hrs).
The
Isle of Maui is
blessed with one
of most ideal
climates in the
world. When you
watch or listen
to our local weather
reports they are
borderline redundant
everyday! Reports
range from sunny
& warm usually
in the 78 - 85
degree's area
to sunny &
warm with occasional
rain in the mountain
area's usually
in the morning
or evening periods.
The winds blow
in a predominately
Northeasterly
direction which
we call "Trade
Winds".
We do however
get an occasional
storm passing
through, which
is fine with us,
the rain helps
keep our paradise
green & our
agriculture fruitful.
Here we have a
saying, "
Without Rain,
There is no Rainbows",
and Maui has one
almost everyday!
The majority of
the island is
warm, in the 78-85
degree area. Sunny
is usually in
the West and South
sides, but can
be found on all
sides of the island.
If cooler climates
is what your looking
for, then Upcountry,
on the slopes
of the Haleakala
Crater is your
best bet, which
can range from
60 degrees (summit
of the crater)
to a comfortable
75-80 (the lower
slopes.
