Feeding the poor,
widows, orphans, elderly and the homeless
is an act that Jesus commands of us,
and here on Maui no one does it better
than Joyce Kawakami and the Feed My Sheep
ministry. We would like to acknowledge
all the help of the guests and owners
of One Napili Way who help us start this
homeless program and grow it so we could
merge our small program with Feed My
Sheep and for their continued to support
with not only money but their time when
here on Maui in helping serve.
Currently
feeding more than 4000 people per month
in three locations, Lahaina, Kahului
and Honakawai, and moving 14 thousand
pounds of food per month, Feed My Sheep
has become the largest feeding program
on Maui. In September of 2005 the ministry
will expand to the south side of Maui
in the Kihie area. For your interest
just a $5.00 donation will feed a family
for a month, and when Joyce and the
Feed My Sheep crew deliver food to someone,
it's not just a hot meal, its enough
groceries for a week.
They are responsible
for about 70% of the caloric intake
of the recipients of the program. Even
more important is how Joyce loves on
and prays for these folks, it is truly
beautiful to watch. In Lahaina we are
test programming a prescription drug
program for the elderly. Many of the
elderly will not get prescription drugs
because of the cost; we are putting
in a program to help them with these
costs. This
ministry
needs
financial
help
not
only
for
food,
but
help
with
transportation,
storage
and
hiring
a
full time
employee.
This
is a
ministry that
you receive
immediate and
long term
gratification from.
Anyone visiting
Maui is
invited to
come to
any of
the sites
to participate
or just
watch. Everyone
who has
come has
seen the
importance of
this ministry
and the
many lives
it touches.
